Mélanie Thierry was my first inspiration when I started drawing and do portraits. There were loads of pictures around showing all her fashion editorials and I had loads of magazines with her on it, she was around 16 years old at the time (my favourite editorial was on Specchio, an Italian magazine that my parents used to buy, the one with the roses, so sexy).
Now it’s pretty difficult to find her old stuff on the Internet, she’s almost a movie star in France (won a César this year for “Le dernier pour la route”) and almost unknown in Italy (she acted in Tornatore’s awful “La leggenda del pianista sull’oceano“, where she played the inexistent female character, in Tognazzi’s Canone Inverso and in Babylon AD with -ahem- Vin Diesel). Oh, but she’ll be famous here too soon, she has been chosen to be the face for Yves Saint Laurent “Elle” Perfume, et voilà.
I always thought that she had one of the most beautiful faces ever, and I love the fact she’s so tiny and short. Go Mélanie.
